Belt Buckles

The buckle is the most prominent part of a man’s belt – and is often seen as wearable art, inviting the viewer’s attention and providing a focus for the wearer’s style. In practice it makes more sense to treat the style and appearance of the belt buckle as an
important (but not central) element in the overall look.

One of the important aspects to remember while buying or wearing a belt is that the bigger the buckle of the belt, the less formal it is. So matching a chunky buckled men’s belt with a classic navy suit will probably be pushing the button with the fashion police!

If you wear accessories like cufflinks or tie pins, you should take care to match the buckle of the belt with the metallic color of the accessories – if your cuff links are silver, the belt buckle should be silver too. The only accessory that can be left out of consideration
while taking into account the color of the buckle is the wedding ring.

Most formal men’s belts will have thin and flat buckles with little or no detailing or decoration. The matt finished silver buckled belt is a safe and good choice with men’s suits of dark colors like blue and black.

When you’re dressing for a less formal occasion, you can be much more experimental with the belt buckle. You can wear any buckle that you can carry off with your attitude. If you feel uncomfortable about the size or the design of the buckle and feel that it is contradictory to your sense of style, avoid it at all costs. After all, not all experiments will get you compliments.
