Checks

Checks have become one of the most fashionable of all suit fabric patterns – particularly plaids, and most especially the glen plaid.

These are patterns woven into the fabric with different colored yarns during manufacturer, meaning that it can be woven into a great many color and pattern style combinations.

If worn discreetly, checks can enhance the look of the wearer quite dramatically thanks to the combination of a relatively informal look with crisp, sharp tailoring. And formal occasions like corporate events, meetings and conferences, a check suit can provide an air of distinguished authority that marks the wearer out from the herd.

Checks on men’s suits look best when worn with a single button and a notch lapel. Mixing patterns can be tricky, but experimentation can be rewarding – while a plain shirt and plain tie are the safe options with a check suit, you can ring the changes with a stripe or pattern in one or both of those.
