Knot Standard’s Superior Suit Measurement System

It’s tough to find custom fitted suits for men, but if you are ordering a bespoke suit, there’s just a single choice, and that’s Knot Standard. There are 3 crucial measurements to be taken when it comes to measuring a suit for a man. These are:

  • Size
  • Cut
  • Specialty

Measure for the Jacket: The size of the suit jacket is determined by taking the measurement of the man’s chest in the form of inches. Knot Standard will provide you with a free tape measure to use. To measure your chest, you need to stand up naturally with your hands down at your side and stretch the tape around the fullest part of your chest; the best placement is just underneath your armpits. Now, you need to measure across your chest by starting underneath your armpit and extending the measuring tape across your chest. Next, stretch the tape across your back from the point where your shoulder blade meets your underarm to the other side. Then measure across the top of your shoulders from your left to your right shoulder. The next step is to measure your arms from the end of your shoulder to immediately above the base of your thumb. Then, measure around the fullest part of your bicep as well as your wrist. Afterwards, measure the jacket waist by stretching the measuring tape around your stomach at the level of your navel. And finally, measure the front jacket length by extending the measuring tape all the way down your body until you are even with your knuckles.

Measure for the trousers:You need to start by measuring your waist. Remove your belt and slightly slide down your pants so they are not in the way, now with the tape against your skin, measure around the line where you usually wear your pants. Now, to take the trouser length, stand barefoot and place the measuring tape on your hip, where your belt line starts, and extend the tape until it reaches the floor. Then, measure from the floor to the height where you prefer your pants to hang to get the inseam length. Subsequently, measure around the thickest part of your thigh followed by measuring around the fullest part of your knee. The next step is to get your hip measurement by pulling the tape around the fullest part of your figure. Finally, you have the option to determine the pants cuff which is the desired circumference for the base of your pants. You can either choose your favorite pair of suit pants from your closet and measure around the base or Knot Standard could design it with the default leg.

For the tape measure, the difference between the chest size and size of the trouser waist or the drop should fall between 2 inches and 8 inches. On the basis of the drop, you can determine the suitable model for your build. There are various options including the slim fit, regular fit and the sports cut. The slim fit is ideal for slender men; the jacket is cut close to the body and fits tightly. The regular fit, which is the recommended Knot Standard cut, is cut close to the body but not restraining. While the sports cut is a variation of the slim fit but has a slightly shorter jacket than the usual Knot Standard cut with a more European look.
