KS Style Breakdown: Blurred Lines

Blurred LinesDespite the controversy, we love Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’, suit, shirt, TI and all. The question of the prancing models’ clothing – or lack thereof – remains, a lawsuit over the track’s copyright has turned ugly and yet Blurred Lines is easily the song of the summer.

What we noticed, however, was the sartorial splendor of the three male singers. While all three change outfits at least once in the video, their most dapper and debonair looks, contrasting sharply with the semi nude models, somehow manages to steal the show.

Thicke mixes sartorial genres with a dapper single breasted, one button black tuxedo jacket with notched lapels and white shirt, open at the collar. No pocket square, boutonniere or bowtie – just aviators to complete the look. The jacket’s slimmed fit and slightly cropped waist trim the singer’s silhouette. Thicke turns rumpled, casual elegance into studied nonchalance.

Rapper TI, meanwhile, marches to a slightly hipper beat when he dons a deep purple tuxedo with flap pockets, contrast grey belt at the waist and white shirt. Keeping it real, a white wife beater peaks out from the top of the shirt blurredlines2adorned with requisite gold chain.

We’d love to see TI in our Grey Herringbone for a smarter look.  Visit our catalog to find a look that suits you.

Pharrell, meanwhile, goes derivative, referencing 1990s hip hop with a golden shiny tracksuit. He adds urbanity with white shirt and semi spread collar buttoned to the neck and switches it up by donning leather blazer, cropped dress pants and straw fedora for a hipper, dressier look.
