Monk Shoes

The monk shoe (or monk strap shoe) is a popular shoe style than is normally worn with formal wear and looks good with men’s suits. It is regarded as less formal than a laced dress shoe, however, which makes it a good choice if you want to reign in the rigid conventionality of a look.

Monk shoes have a buckle and strap rather than laces. A single buckle and strap is common, but you may find double monk strap shoes – a single strap with two buckles to give the shoe a more stylish look. Monk shoes often have a cap toe, are sometimes brogued but more usually plain, and are popular in suede and patent leather.

Monk shoes don’t usually come cheap. They generally use the finest leather and are often craftsman-made. But quality is usually worth paying for, and these shoes are typically very durable and long lasting.
