Socks

The basic function of the sock is comfort – to keep the feet warm and to help draw sweat away from the feet to areas where air can evaporate the perspiration. For the average suit wearer, however, two other roles come into play: the sock help prevent the shoe from chafing, and the sock adds to the overall look of the outfit.

The role that men’s socks have in our lives is certainly significant. The professional and personal success of a man could actually depend on the pair of socks he wears; although modest in size and small in terms of expenditure, this item of clothing is capable of making a notable impact in your appearance – for positive or undesirable results.

When you choose the right socks for the right occasion, your sense of fashion is dramatically improved. Conversely, if you make a mistake in your choice, it can have a surprisingly powerful negative impact.

When you are all set to attend a formal occasion, your selection of sock should complement your overall appearance. You are likely to choose black dress socks for such events. You should definitely not go for patterns when you dress formally.

The selection of men’s socks would be different when you go for a more casual business look. To be on the safe side, you should go for socks that match the shade of your trousers in such a way that it is at least complementing the shade.

Socks are made from a wide variety of materials, though commonly the base is cotton, wool, or a manmade fibre such as nylon or polyester. For an increased level of softness other materials might be added – among them linen, silk, cashmere, or mohair.
