2013 Emmy Awards: Best and Worst Dressed Men

emmysWe were shocked by the number of fashion misses at this year’s 65th Annual Emmy Awards. The most disconcerting trends: Long ties worn with tuxedos. This one surprises us. Just as the trend toward more dapper, more elegant suiting matures, we’re seeing countertrends that typically don’t live up to the hype. Someone must be going around Hollywood advising celebrities that long ties and tuxes work well together. FYI – They don’t.

Some other not-so-hot moments:

Jesse Tyler Ferguson looked uncomfortable in a black textured jacket that fell too short. The button stance was too high and added to the impression of girth rather than showing off his daring fashion sense.

We’re not sure what happened to comedian Tracy Morgan. If the suit was meant to be a joke – it’s not funny. Sleeves too long, unstoppable break. Just not right.

Finally we love the idea of three piece formal wear but we’re not sure how Asher Monroe transformed that into a quilted, zip up vest.

Our favorite Breaking Bad dynamic duo killed it in sublime tuxes. Bryan Cranston may not have taken home the statue but he won our lasting respect for his classic black tux with notched collar and silk bow tie. Aaron Paul wore a striking midnight blue tux with contrasting collar, letting the slim fit and suppressed waist showcase his slimmer physique.

By the way, Jon Hamm looked polished in a refined white dinner jacket.
