How To Do Chinos

Chinos often don’t get the sartorial respect they deserve. Commonly thought of as the least cool trouser, chinos are overlooked when it comes to creating a stylish outfit. However, chinos in reality are one of the must have items in your wardrobe for the warm weather months. Here’s why.

They are more versatile than your denim, but just as comfortable. Chinos can be similar to denim because both fabrics have a naturally more relaxed feel. However, chinos can be dressed up in a way that denim cannot. They can be worn to a summer wedding, dressed up with a blazer and button down for work, or worn with a short sleeve button down or cotton tee.

Chinos are made from “cotton twill” which is why they’re so light and comfortable. Originally made for military use, chinos were crafted to be durable and strong, yet easy to move in.

Chinos should be worn slightly fitted like a more formal trouser, but have a more tapered break around the ankle for a chic, effortlessly polished look. Go with the classic beige color or try a variation in a dark brown, olive green, or navy hue.
