5 tips to Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul’s off screen style

Aaron PaulHe may dress like a wannabe thug on the hit TV series Breaking Bad but Aaron Paul knows how to style it up off screen for the right mix of dapper and casual elegance.

1. Bowties are back. Jesse Pinkman may prefer hoodies and knit caps (does anyone in Albuquerque, New Mexico really need a knit cap?) but when the set wraps, Paul’s quirky collection of bowties come out. We love the black and grey striped bowtie he wore to the Zero Dark Thirty premier last December.

2. Speaking of suits, Paul seems to love dapper grey. Whether its charcoal, steel or herringbone, grey suits are classic. Check out Knot Standard’s gunmetal grey three piece suit with five button waist coat for a perfectly tailored suit to add to your wardrobe.

3. Skinny ties and narrow spread collars matched with skinny notch lapels work well for slimmer faces and smaller builds.

4. Scruffy-faced meth dealers may get away with raggedy T-shirts and holey jeans but if you’re suited up, there’s no excuse for sloppiness.  Where is your pocket square, Aaron? It doesn’t have to match your tie, in fact it shouldn’t. But it should be pressed and front and center.

5. Trouser cuffs are thought to have originated in England, when members of the British House of Commons wore them on rainy days.  That was in 1893, however. As a general rule of thumb, shorter men shouldn’t wear them – ever!
