Birdseye and Nailhead

The classic birdseye pattern for men’s suits is a weave of tiny dots – usually silver-grey – on a darker background.

Nailhead is a variant that looks like little ovals rather than diamonds.

Either way the woven patterns are small and subtle, and you can treat them almost as a solid unpatterned fabric.

To coordinate with shirt and tie you should aim for a pleasing contrast of pattern intensity between the various components of your clothing. Shirts and ties with larger patterns or solid colors will generally work better.
