Bullet Back Cufflinks

The bullet back cufflink is probably the most popular type of cufflink simply because it is the easiest and most versatile that you will find. The back of the cufflink is a bullet-shaped or torpedo-like capsule of metal that is suspended on hinges between two posts that are anchored to the front of the cufflink. The bullet can be moved through 360 degrees on its hinge.

The method is to turn it so that it lies in line with the posts, creating a single shape that can be manipulated it through the holes in the cuff. Once it is inserted, the bullet can be flipped into the horizontal position at right angles to the posts thus securing the cufflink on the shirt.

Undoubtedly this is the simplest style of cufflink for a man to use, but it does have the disadvantage of all post types that the cuff is held quite rigidly on the wrist – a chain link fastening allows a looser, freer fit.

The bullet shape itself is functional but not particularly attractive, though bullet back cufflinks are available in precious metals like gold or silver to add interest.
