Chinos day and night

Chinos are the summer pant workhorse. They work for almost every occasion – from casual Fridays at the office to a late afternoon round of golf. Chinos are laid back and comfortable, practical and yet more formal and dressy than a pair of jeans.

Around since World War II, chinos can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. To that end, we’ve got three easy looks to take you from morning at the office to night on the town in our favorite summer pants.

Chinos at the office
Pair your favorite khaki colored cotton twill pants (chinos are made from cotton twill) with a navy cotton blend blazer, men’s dress shirt and blue striped tie for an upmarket Friday office look. We recommend black loafers and a belt to complete the look.

Chinos out for lunch
Scroll back the formal by dropping the tie and blazer as you head out for a late afternoon lunch. Look spiffy with a button down vest or pair a dark denim shirt and light colored blazer for a bit of sophistication. Don’t forget the pocket square.

Chinos out on the town
Chinos can be dressed up without looking like you’re heading to the office. Choose a pair of colored chinos, like the Knot Standard Navy Chinos and pair with a great shirt and blazer sans the tie.
