Length of a Suit Jacket

The length of the jacket on men’s suits changes with fashion, but the trend for shorter jackets seems to have run out of steam. Conventionally, the correct length of the jacket has been defined as half the distance from the floor to the jacket collar; but in practice the right length cannot be determined by arbitrary rules – it should relate to the cut of the jacket, the style of the matching trousers, and the kind of body shape to be flattered.

One important thing that should be kept in mind while purchasing a jacket is that the jacket should cover your gluteus.

A long jacket can look elegant, but it demands a more pronounced shape so that the wearer does not look huge. A normal-length jacket creates a dynamic silhouette but only if worn with high waist trousers. A long and skinny man should wear a short jacket to avoid an emaciated look.
