Look after your suit

A man’s suit should be one of the most costly investments that you will ever make when it comes to your grooming – and it should be one that you hold very near to your heart.

This calls for a proper suit care regime if you want to preserve the style and appearance of your suit.

After a long and tiring day, people tend to throw their denims, shirts and t-shirts in the laundry basket and retire to their couch. The same can’t be done for men’s suit jackets or suit pants. When you throw your suit you abuse its fabric and you encourage it to loose its shape. No matter how exhausted you are, always take a few minutes to remove the suit properly and store it appropriately to ensure its longevity and maintain its quality.

Get into the habit of brushing your suit at the end of the day; use a soft-bristled brush to remove any hair, dust and light dirt before hanging up the suit.

Always use a specialised clothes brush for this – the softness of the bristles and the design of the brush itself will allow you to clean the suit without damaging the fabric.

Hang men’s suits where they will get ample contact with fresh air. Remember that your suits will need to be aired properly in order to keep them in prime condition. When storing a man’s suit long-term, make sure it is well aired first by keeping it in a spacious, airy area of your wardrobe for 24 hours before transferring it to a suit cover in your storage closet.
